About Me:
I love music. I love singing. It makes me happy, plain and simple. I love creating happiness by singing for and with others and teaching children and adults to make music. Music is a gift. I’m so fortunate to be able to share it with others as a career. It’s a universal language we can all speak.
I have been singing for over 25 years. I’m very lucky to have trained under amazing voice instructors who laid my foundation. Through their guidance, I found the confidence and built the skills to cross train and sing comfortably in many musical styles and genres, including musical theatre (contemporary and legit), classical, opera, jazz, pop/rock and world music. It's such a gift to now pass on the joy of teaching voice to my students. I am honored to be a part of their journey of self discovery and music making.
On any given day you may see me teaching children for Austin Opera, performing Musical Theatre, Opera, Middle Eastern music or singing back up vocals for my good friend, Joe McDermott. Currently, I perform with One Ounce Opera. We are a company of professional singers who present accessible, contemporary, and mainstream opera through thoughtful programming in non-traditional locations. I also sing with a wonderful group of musicians in Bereket, the University of Texas Middle Eastern Ensemble. I've enjoyed performing in many musicals, cabarets, ensembles and recitals over the past 25 years.
I love teaching others and finding what makes each individual unique and special. I use my background as a former teacher with a Masters in special education to design thoughtful and prepared lessons. My training and experience give me the tools to be present, listen and adapt to the needs of my students in the moment.
I enjoy teaching all ages. I love guiding adults to find their voices and helping enthusiastic, wide eyed kids to discover music. I’ve taught kids of every age from preschool through high-school. Some highlights include co-founding Heartsong Music’s outreach program, teaching high school theatre at Blake High School, and teaching voice as a mentor to kids in the Texas foster care system with Kids in a New Groove.
